Job Shadowing Between Bulgarian and Italian Social Enterprises

Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF) was a host organization within social entrepreneurship shadowing program of SEHUBS project and our team welcomed Davide Palmieri from Cooperativa Ciauli – Palermo, Italy. Our guest spent the first day in the company of Petar Vanev – Social Enterpeneurship Coordinator – and our Director Rumyana Ivanova, who presented to him our online shop woth and our work with small farmers and producers, the creation of our product Nature in a Box, the board game Terra Futura and the current social entrepreneurship projects we are working on.

We met Davide with representatives of the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law, who gave us the opportunity to have our job shadowing visit in Sicily a few months ago, and this time to host a fellow from Italy. We did not miss to meet him with our friends from the social entrepreneurship platform DarPazar to discuss how the products of the different social enterprises reach the market.

We also took Davide to the Farmers Market near the Ministry of Agriculture to meet some of the farmers in person.

On the third day, after an exciting night train ride, Davide visited Burgas and our regional office there. We met him with Radoslav Moldovanski from the Poda Nature Conservation Centre and talked about the ways Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds manages the Centre and the protected area. Despite the cold weather all week, we enjoyed sunny weather and great company on the day dedicated to the lakes.

After the Poda we visited Atanasovsko Lake, the Bird Watching Shelter, SimBiotic and the Point and talked about the cause-oriented products that the BBF is developing within the framework of the Lagoon of Life project, the challenges we face in producing the green salt, but also the opportunities that the new value-added products related to the lake resources give us.

We hope our partnership will continue in the future, because for us and for our Sicilian friends it is important to “sow beauty”.
